About The Ontario Finnish Resthome

For the past 50 years, The Ontario Finnish Resthome has been the number one choice for senior accommodations, providing multi-level care and support services in an atmosphere that maintains the highest quality of care that is in a class of its own in the Sault Ste. Marie Area and District.

Our Foundation has raised millions to provide our residents with new equipment, recreational activities, upgrades to the facilities, and to support our capital campaigns.

With your support, you will be providing the residents with a new Long-term Care Home. According to the 2021 Canadian Census, there are currently 17,930 Saultites that are over the age of 65 – making up 25% of the population of Sault Ste. Marie. However, our city only has enough beds to accommodate 0.05% of them!

The funds raised on Sept. 16th with The Grand Parade will help supplement the cost of new furnishings and assistive devices for this new home. The Ministry of Health only covers a portion of the basic costs of this project including the basic construction, equipment and in room furniture.

With our fundraising effort, we will be able to give our residents a home that is better than basic, such as improved infection control furniture that is both comfortable and accessible for the residents and their families, top of the line equipment that will benefit both residents and staff, and additional Recreational Therapy equipment that will ensure an optimal quality of the life for the residents.

Be a part of our “Homes with a Heart” by joining in the Grand Parade. Be a captain, form a team, reach out to families and friends and raise money to support the residents of OFRA today – because your heart makes it their home!
