About Roots Community Food Centre

Roots Community Food Centre uses food as a tool to work with people – all kinds of people! Through education, employment, advocacy and access, Roots CFC reaches thousands of people each year building connection and community.

In 2023, Roots CFC expanded our programming to include two free community meals each week for Seniors and Elders, and in 2023 we served 10,000 meals of delicious food, all made from scratch and made with love. Also in 2023, we became an expansion site for Oasis, a national program supporting seniors to age at home through programming focused on food, friendship and fitness. In Thunder Bay this is operated at Bay View Towers and Castlegreen Cooperative Housing.

The Grand Parade campaign will celebrate seniors and their important place in our community! Funds raised by teams will support sustaining and expanding the Oasis program at Roots CFC, ensuring that more older adults can rely on these programs to build connection, health and wellbeing throughout the year. Thank you for embarking on The Grand Parade with Roots CFC!
